It Is true that this threat Is being taken seriously, and that many responsible research workers, government advisers and others are working towards Its reduction. But air pollution seems to have something of the nature of a hydra-headed monster: tackle one problem and another immediately grows to take its place. Actions taken sometimes have results that are far from what was envisioned, sometimes even seeming to make the problem worse.

Multilevel inverters have become very popular in the last few years, due to their advantages over the conventional two level inverters, in producing sinusoidal waveform with low distortion, high quality and high efficiency. Many topologies of multilevel inverter have been proposed during the last three decades, aiming to construct a sinusoidal waveform. It is hard to connect a single power semiconductor switch directly to medium voltage grids (2.3, 3.3, 4.16, or 6.9 kV). For these reasons, a new family of multilevel inverters has emerged as the solution for working with higher voltage levels. Multilevel inverters have received more attention in industrial application, such as motor drives, static VAR compensators and renewable energy systems, etc. Primarily multilevel inverters are known to have output voltages with more than two levels. As a result, the inverter output voltages have reduced harmonic distortions and high quality of waveforms. Additionally, the devices are confined to fraction of dc-link voltage. These characteristics make multilevel inverter to adopt for high-power and high-voltage applications. Although different multilevel inverter exists, Cascade Multilevel Inverter (CMI) is one of the productive topology from multilevel family. In reality, on comparing with other multilevel based topologies, CMI feature a high modularity degree because each inverter can be seen as a module with similar circuit topology, control structure, and modulation. Therefore, in the case of a fault in one of these modules, it is possible to replace it quickly and easily. Moreover, with an appropriated control strategy, it is possible to bypass the faulty module without stopping the load, bringing an almost continuous overall availability. All this features make CMI an outstanding power converter.

An efficient and new but non-intrusive method to detect the fluctuation in gear load may be the motor current signature analysis (MCSA). In this paper, a multi-stage transmission gearbox (with and without defects) has been studied in order to replace the conventional vibration monitoring by MCSA. It has been observed through FFT analysis that low frequencies of the vibration signatures have sidebands across line frequency of the motor current whereas high frequencies of vibration signature are difficult to be detected. Hence, discrete wavelet transform (DWT) is suggested to decompose the current signal, and FFT analysis is carried out with the decomposed current signal to trace the sidebands of the high frequencies of vibration

Task intensive electronic control units (ECUs) in automotive domain, equipped with multicore processors , real time operating systems (RTOSs) and various application software, should perform efficiently and time deterministically. The parallel computational capability offered by this multicore hardware can only be exploited and utilized if the ECU application software is parallelized. Having provided with such parallelized software, the real time operating system scheduler component should schedule the time critical tasks so that, all the computational cores are utilized to a greater extent and the safety critical deadlines are met. As original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) are always motivated towards adding more sophisticated features to the existing ECUs, a large number of task sets can be effectively scheduled for execution within the bounded time limits. In this paper, a hybrid scheduling algorithm has been proposed, that meticulously calculates the running slack of every task and estimates the probability of meeting deadline either being in the same partitioned queue or by migrating to another. This algorithm was run and tested using a scheduling simulator with different real time task models of periodic tasks. This algorithm was also compared with the existing static priority scheduler, which is suggested by Automotive Open Systems Architecture (AUTOSAR). The performance parameters considered here are, the % of core utilization, average response time and task deadline missing rate. It has been verified that, this proposed algorithm has considerable improvements over the existing partitioned static priority scheduler based on each performance parameter mentioned above.

The activities of lightning incidence occurrence daily, monthly, annually have recorded an extreme destructive impact particularly to the study zone (Omuagwa International Airport Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria) under investigation. These constraints have made the airline operators to efficiently plan to schedule flight especially in the rainy season. This research is aimed at employing reliability technique in order to estimate and predict lightning parameters including (shape or slope, scale or characteristics life and location parameters) that takes into considerations the lightning flashes thunder storms density prediction of the lightning-surges behaviour using weilbull probability density functions in conjunction with the application of simple least-square techniques to determine the parameters of weilbull distribution for purpose of directing aircraft zone for navigation in the event of probable uncertainties. Following records of data set the occurrence of lightning strikes occurs mostly during the presence of lightning thunderstorm under investigation which are normally influenced by natural phenomenon of vegetation, Rivers (surrounded by the study zone), temperature (heated up over time collected rivers water) these relationships are key determinants for the precipitation of rain and lightning thunder strike.

Posteriormente, se implementa todo el sistema eléctrico que está compuesto por un generador de imanes permanentes, un sistema de acondicionamiento de señal, un sistema de control y un sistema de acumulación de energía. un estudio de iluminación dondese elige la luminaria apropiada y las condiciones de iluminación favorables y óptimas para el

This study has been undertaken to investigate the speed control ACIM using field oriented control. The principle of vector control of electric drives is based on the control of both the magnitude and the phase of each phase current and voltage. for this purpose, the study of available conventional and non-conventional approaches has been presented. This paper also presents a clear study which illustrates introduction of efficient vector control of ACIM.

This project aims at implementing the concept of the classic 2D arcade games to develop a simple Table tennis game on cyclone IV FPGA DE2 115 Board using VHDL, aiming to study the VGA interface for designing the game graphic output.
Table tennis or ping-pong as it is called, is a sport where two or four players hit a ball back and forth across a table using small rackets. The game takes places on a table divided by a net. The player tries to bounce the ball back to its opponent and a score is made when the opponent misses the ball. We aim at replicating this game on the VGA monitor using two rectangular bars as rackets for the two players on each end of the display and a square ball that bounces between them. Similar to a regular table tennis game, a score is registered for the opponent when a player misses the ball. The first player to achieve a score of 16 is declared a winner. We are using an FPGA for our project because it is a high-speed, cost-efficient device that can be used to implement a system that is easily modifiable as and when necessary. Several aspects of the board like memory, arithmetic operations, counter, clock, pll etc. are used to drive this game on a VGA monitor. The 7-segment LED display on the board are utilized to display the scores. The 4 push buttons (2 for each player) on the board control the movement of the paddle vertically and the player is free to reset the game at any time. The switch on the board is used to select the game mode.

Illumination invariance remains the most researched, yet the most challenging aspect of automatic face recognition. In this paper we investigate the discriminative power of colour-based invariants in the presence of large illumination changes between training and test data, when appearance changes due to cast shadows and non-Lambertian effects are significant. Specifically, there are three main contributions: (i) we employ a more sophisticated photometric model of the camera and show how its parameters can be estimated, (ii) we derive several novel colour-based face invariants, and (iii) on a large database of video sequences we examine and evaluate the largest number of colour-based representations in the literature. Our results suggest that colour invariants do have a substantial discriminative power which may increase the robustness and accuracy of recognition from low resolution images.

-Shot boundary detection is essentially the first step in analyzing content of the video. Wipe transition is an important type of gradual transition eminently used in the video production industry to smoothen the transition between two shots. Wipes involve almost 30 different types of transitions and hence it becomes very difficult to detect them as compared to detection of other shot boundaries such as cut, fade and dissolve. Most of the researchers who have worked in shot boundary detection domain have concentrated on fade, dissolve and cuts, because of the complexities involved in detection of wipes due to noise, object and camera motion. This study proposes an efficient wipe transition detection method which combats the hindrances caused by noise as well as object and camera motion in detection of wipes. The proposed algorithm uses mean of statistical image differences as the pivotal basis in discriminating wipes from object and camera motion.

Today, India wants to be fitter and this health-consciousness drives for healthier food. Vegetables available in urban India are usually highly contaminated with pesticides wrecking our health and the cultivating land instead. Organic Farming as an alternative is not very feasible due to its exorbitant prices. Hydroponics along with our designed system offers a new way of cultivation which promotes all aspects of sustainable agriculture thereby providing an alternative to organic farming. In this paper, we have designed a hydroponic system which ensures higher growth rate with controlled environment. The main function of our hydroponic system is to monitor and to control parameters with the help of actuators present in the system to produce plants and exotic vegetables at a faster rate and by revoking the necessity of the arduous activities generally associated with farming. Apart from that, remote monitoring and controlling of the artificial environment to eliminate the dependency on the natural habitat to ensure year-round availability of all plants and vegetables is one of the main objectives of this project. The project shows that hydroponic systems which are monitored and controlled properly show higher rates of growth and also reduce human dependency.

Experiments were conducted to control the exhaust emissions from two-stroke, single cylinder, spark ignition (SI) engine, with alcohol blended gasoline (80% gasoline, 10% methanol, 10% ethanol by volume) having copper coated combustion chamber [CCCC, copper-(thickness, 300 μ) coated on piston crown, inner side of cylinder head] provided with catalytic converter with sponge iron as catalyst and compared with conventional SI engine (CE) with pure gasoline operation. Aldehydes were measured by wet chemical method. Exhaust emissions of CO and UBHC were evaluated at different values of brake effective pressure, while aldehydes were measured at full load operation of the engine. A microprocessor-based analyzer was used for the measurement of CO/UBHC in the exhaust of the engine. Copper coated combustion chamber with alcohol blended gasoline considerably reduced pollutants in comparison with CE with pure gasoline operation.  Abstract-Aeronautical Data Chain is a conceptual representation of the path that a set or element of aeronautical data takes from its origination up to end-use. There are classical databases such as navigation or terrain database and configuration files for modularity and portability purposes. These databases can be used to activate or deactivate software items, adapt the software computation to the aircraft configuration, or provide computation data. The RTCA DO-200B establishes three Data Process Assurance Level (DPAL) as the level of rigor, representing the amount of verification and validation tasks performed, during data processing to assure data quality. This paper presents four different and complementary validation techniques to ensure correctness for Aeronautical Databases. This work aims to cover the existing gap in the available standards, presenting and exemplifying some proposed techniques. It also presents some techniques and provides different comparisons and specific intentions. At the end, some relevant needs of qualified tools are discussed to ensure that the use of techniques can be automated, and credits can be sought using tools.

Phosphogypsum disposal from Dinh Vu DAP company was used to separate phosphate and make gypsum by (NH¬4)2SO4. The reaction time was 120 min. The percentage of P2O5 after removal was 0.72 % and met the Vietnam Standard 11833:2017 issued by Institute of Building Materials. The components in phosphogypsum could be applied to manufacture cement. The final product was mixed by PG120 : clinker : fly ash with ratio 5:80:15% (w/w), respectively to manufacture cement. The cement was tested compressive strength. The strength was 55 N/mm2 after 28 days. Index Terms-Phosphate gypsum (PG), CaHPO4.2H2O, CaSO4.2H2O, P2O5, cement, diammonium phosphate (DAP).

In the present paper I will describe the stages of realizing a system that allows the control of DC motors by PWM and the change of rotation direction using H-bridge with relays, in order to achieve the movement of the seat, the headrest and the backrest, for the driver's seat. This system also monitors current consumption of motors using ACS714 current sensor. Upon reaching an obstacle, the current will rise above the nominal value, and when the sensor response through a processing circuit reaches the set threshold, the adjustment will stop. This system will be built using the Arduino Uno development platform.

The use of a filter plays an important part in a communication channel because it is effective at eliminating spectral leakage, reducing channel width, and eliminating interference from adjacent symbols (Inter Symbol Interference) ISI. It describe the developed and dynamic method of designing finite impulse response filter with automatic rapid and less error by an efficient genetic and neural approach. GA and Neural are powerful global optimization algorithm introduced in combinational optimization problems. Here, FIR filter is designed using Genetic, Neural approach by efficient coding schemes. We need to design these filters with some constraints imposed by requirements of the communication system in which we are going to use them. The use of optimization techniques have been proved to be quite useful towards the design of those digital filters with certain specifications. This paper reviews about the uses of optimization systems in digital filter design.

 Abstract— Data Leakage can be referred as the unauthorized transfer of classified information from a computer or data centre to the outside world. Big data is an evolving term that describes any voluminous amount of structured, semi-structured and unstructured data that has the potential to be mined for information. The data loss in such huge massive data sets may cause critical vulnerabilities. In this paper we proposed a novel model in Hadoop master/slave architecture for data leakage prevention with LRA algorithm. The LRA algorithm evaluates the Least Reliable Agent and sends it to the DLA (Data Leakage Avoider). DLA prevents the NameNode from allocating data to these agents.

Abstract— The research aims to isolate indigenous bacteria present in oil sludge from oil tanks and oil pits from Basrah Refinery Factories and study their ability to degrade oil sludge by Gas Chromatographic Analysis. The research started on October 2013 till November 2014. Soil sampling was taken on several places with contaminated soil location from oil tanks and oil pits in Basrah, south of Iraq. The bacteria were isolated by using an enrichment culture and a single colony isolation technique. All isolates were screened for bacterial oil degradation using 0.5% diesel in Bushnell-Hass Mineral Salt medium. The ability of to degrade oil sludge was identified by using Gas Chromatographic Analysis. The predominant bacteria belonged to the genera Pseudomonas spp., Arthrobacter spp., Rhodococcus spp., and Bacillus spp.  The most active degraders of oil sludge Pseudomonas sp. and Rhodococcus sp. All the tested isolates show good activity to degrade n-alkanes in oil sludge.

Este artículo presenta la investigación, diseño y construcción de un prototipo de máquina fresadora CNC para fabricar circuitos impresos (PCB’s) de una cara y ancho de trazo mínimo de 0.1 mm. El diseño del prototipo se llevó a cabo después una exhaustiva investigación, identificando las principales características que debería presentar, y teniendo en cuenta el uso final del mismo. La estructura mecánica esta conformada por una base o soporte, tres ejes ortogonales movidos por un sistema tuerca-tornillo sin fin, con el propósito de brindar uniformidad y precisión en el desplazamiento, cada uno accionado por un motor paso a paso. Los ejes X y Y cuentan cada uno con un riel para facilitar el desplazamiento. En la herramienta de control se usaron principios de CNC por medio del sotfware LinuxCNC

Power quality is a very important issue. Non-linear loads and semi-conductor devices connected to AC electric mains generate unwanted signals  (harmonics) in the dynamics of current which are responsible for additional power losses in heat loss and the risk of equipment damage or malfunctioning.
In the simulink model of shunt active filter fuzzy logic
controller and hysteresis current controller for reducing the
harmonic distortion. Powergui tool of mat lab provides the
function of FFT analysis which is very important to calculate
total harmonic distortion in source current. By taking various
firing angles the total harmonic distortion is calculated by FFT
analysis.

The main objective of this project is to develop and implement a prototype of a controller scheme using latest control algorithms and drives technology to capture maximum sun energy from sun through solar panel in day time. The efficiency of a solar panel is related to the amount of solar energy it absorbed, so it is necessary to track the sun’s position for the panel accurately. A new approach to implement a control unit so that the position of the panel is always kept perpendicular to the sun so as to capture maximum amount of energy. In this control unit a new tracking system is proposed, which comprises of a sensor (position), a microcontroller, and a stepper motor. The position sensor (pyranometer) always detects the position of the sensor. This sensor also detects the radiation from the sun. The fuzzy logic control approach is developed in the microcontroller to design a drive unit for stepper motor as well as to detect the sun position. By implementing this tracking system, the solar panel can be perpendicular to the sun at any moment in day time to obtain maximum solar radiation. The resulting structure has high efficiency, low cost and can be easily modified. This improves the performance of regular tracker nearby 30-40%.

Dynamically changing background ("dynamic background") still presents a great challenge to many motion-based video surveillance systems. In the context of event detection, it is a major source of false alarms. There is a strong need from the security industry either to detect and suppress these false alarms, or dampen the effects of background changes, so as to increase the sensitivity to meaningful events of interest. In this paper, we restrict our focus to one of the most common causes of dynamic background changes: that of swaying tree branches and their shadows under windy conditions. Considering the ultimate goal in a video analytics pipeline, we formulate a new dynamic background detection problem as a signal processing alternative to the previously described but unreliable computer vision-based approaches. Within this new framework, we directly reduce the number of false alarms by testing if the detected events are due to characteristic background motions. In addition, we introduce a new dataset suitable for the evaluation of dynamic background detection. It consists of real-world events detected by a commercial surveillance system from two static surveillance cameras. The research question we address is whether dynamic background can be detected reliably and efficiently using simple motion features and in the presence of similar but meaningful events such as loitering. Inspired by the tree aerodynamics theory, we propose a novel method named local variation persistence (LVP), that captures the key characteristics of swaying motions. The method is posed as a convex optimization problem whose variable is the local variation. We derive a computationally efficient algorithm for solving the optimization problem, the solution of which is then used to form a powerful detection statistic. On our newly collected dataset, we demonstrate that the proposed LVP achieves excellent detection results and outperforms the best alternative adapted from existing art in the dynamic background literature.

— Designing an efficient Distributed Database System (DDBS) is considered as one of the most challenging problems because of multiple interdependent factors which are affecting its performance. Allocation and fragmentation are two processes which their efficiency and correctness influence the performance of DDBS. Therefore, efficient data fragmentation and allocation of fragments across the network sites are considered as an important research area in distributed database design. In this paper presents an approach which simultaneously fragments data vertically and allocates the fragments to appropriate sites across the network. Bond Energy Algorithm (BEA) is applied with a better affinity measure that improves the generated clusters of attributes.

Increase in use of power electronics in power system addressed power quality problems. Converters are widely used in industrial area for different application. They are non-linear devices and degrade power quality of system. In this paper, 12 – pulse ac – dc power supply is taken as non-linear load example. Power supply, here discuss is use in low voltage, high dc current application. High dc current is generated by connecting four M3 converters in parallel. Phase-shifting transformer is also introduce for require phase displacement. Converter can affect power quality in terms of inject harmonics and decrease power factor. It can be used as dynamic load; therefore, it is necessary to evaluate active and reactive power for different loading condition. This paper represents assessment of power quality for such system.

The stages of sleep are measuring α wave, Ɵ wave, delta wave. Stages of sleep are basically in two part Non REM and REM stages.

Drill cuttings represent one of the most significant waste streams in the upstream oil and gas industry, and they require effective and efficient treatment and disposal. The industry is working with regulators to achieve continuous improvement in its environmental performance, with the ultimate goal of zero discharge. Drill cuttings may be contaminated in either water based mud (WBM) or oil based mud (OBM). Drill cuttings from OBMs are typically hydrocarbon contaminated and will require the filtering of contaminants prior to disposal or reuse. This study investigated the effectiveness of treating oil contaminated drill cuttings using thermal desorption method. Sample of drill cuttings were collected from a field drilling operation in the Niger delta. The initial oil content was about 21.8% and after treatment in the thermal desorption unit the resultant dry drill cuttings (ash) oil content was 0.33%. This meets the regulatory requirement of oil on cuttings (OOC) of less than 1% by weight, eliminating future environmental liabilities. Also, laboratory testing showed that the recovered base-oil is remarkably similar in composition to the original diesel in composition and that it can be used in an identical manner.

An earthquake (also known as a tremor or temblor) is the result of a sudden release of energy in the Earth's crust that creates seismic waves. Earthquakes are recorded with a seismometer, also known as a seismograph. The moment magnitude of an earthquake is conventionally reported, or the related and mostly obsolete Richter magnitude, with magnitude 3 or lower earthquakes being mostly imperceptible and magnitude 7 causing serious damage over large areas. Cloud computing has gained a lot of publicity in the current IT world. After the internet, Cloud computing is the next big thing in the computer world. Cloud computing is the use of the Internet for the tasks performed on the computer and it is the nextgeneration architecture of IT Industry. Cloud computing is related to different technologies and the convergence of various technologies has emerged to be called cloud computing. Cloud Computing moves the application software and databases to the large data centers, where the management of the data and services may not be fully trustworthy. This unique attribute, however, poses many new security challenges which have not been well understood. In this paper, we discuss the design mechanisms that not only protect sensitive data with encrypted data, but also protect customers from malicious behaviors by enabling the validation of the computation result.

Cycling exercise-based on functional electrical stimulation (FES) for disabled individuals-is achieved by stimulating single muscle group, the quadriceps, with the help of a new assist mechanism represented by a solid disc flywheel equipped with an electrical clutch. Fuzzy logic based closed-loop control method is implemented to obtain a stable cycling cadence by i) controlling the stimulation intensity on the muscle and ii) managing the engagement of the flywheel mechanism. To achieve better results, several crank positionswith different gear ratios between the crank and the flywheel-are tested and analyzed. To obtain the optimal design parameters, a multi-objective genetic algorithm (MOGA) approach is adopted towards maximizing the cycling efficiency and minimizing the cadence error. A comparison with the results reported in the literature reveals the superiority of the proposed design to limit the cadence error to ±5 rpm for 35 rpm desired speed. Moreover, the results demonstrate that the designed control approach with the proposed assist mechanism is robust to changes in muscle force due to muscle fatigue. Additionally, the introduced control approach with the new assist mechanism is promoting bounded tracking of the desired speed and prolonging FES-cycling training by stimulating the quadriceps muscle group only.

Nocturnal frontal lobe epilepsy (NFLE) is distinguished by seizures with composite, often bizarre, fierce behavior arising only or mainly during sleep. These strange seizures and their happening during sleep are often followed by normal electroencephalogram tracings and neurological findings, making it hard to distinguish nocturnal frontal lobe epilepsy seizures from other non-epileptic nocturnal paroxysmal consequences, namely parasomnias. Nocturnal Frontal Lobe Epilepsy was depicted for the first time in 1981, but, as its epileptic origin was contentious, the condition was named nocturnal paroxysmal dystonia. Nocturnal Frontal Lobe Epilepsy is the most difficult syndrome in the sleep related disturbances .This paper restrains an overview of Nocturnal Frontal Lobe Epilepsy, which is a sleeping disorder and the prediction of Nocturnal Frontal Lobe Epilepsy through electroencephalogram in which electrical activity of brain is recorded. Nocturnal frontal lobe can be treated by Anti-seizure drugs.

In this review paper, logging of data such as
temperature, pressure, vibration, camera image etc. which
may be applicable to any industry where all these
parameters has to logged on a certain interval. This paper is
based on a demonstration model which shows how data
logging operation can be performed from a distance using
GSM 3G Technologies. This data logger is implemented
using suitable Microcontroller. These data loggers can be
interfaced with various sensors based on the requirement
and can be connected to the various plants in the industries
which require data logging. Since these data loggers use
GSM 3G interface they are the best solution for logging data
from furnaces, Chemical plants, petroleum wells etc. where
it is highly hazardous to log the data manually.

 Abstract— Distribution design involves making decisions on the fragmentation and allocation of data across the sites of a computer network. Multiple vertical splitting is the process of subdividing the attributes of a relation to generate fragments. In this paper, we propose an analysis for multiple vertical splitting algorithm using Slop Based Partitioning Algorithm (SBPA). This approach starts from the attribute affinity matrix and generates initial clusters based on the affinity values between attributes. Then, it uses the database according to optimal splitting solution to produce final groups that will represent the fragments. Then we analyzed these fragments according to their contribution level. The result is generated that shows how to find optimal solutions.
