This paper presents the results of ground vibration measurements carried out in Hisarcik Boron open pit mine located on the west side of central Anatolia near Kütahya province in Turkey. Within the scope of this study to predict peak particle velocity (PPV) level for this site, ground vibration components were measured for 304 shots during bench blasting. In blasting operations, ANFO (blasting agent), gelatin dynamite (priming), and delay electric detonators (firing) were used as explosives. Parameters of scaled distance (charge quantity per delay and the distance between the source and the station) were recorded carefully and the ground vibration components were measured for all blast events using two different types of vibration monitors (one White Mini-Seis and one Instantel Minimate Plus Model). The absolute distances between shot points and monitor stations were determined using GPS. The equation of square root scaled distance extensively used in the literature was taken into consideration for the prediction of PPV. Then, the data pairs of scaled distance and particle velocity obtained from the 565 event records were analyzed statistically. At the end of statistical evaluation of the data pairs, an empirical relation which gives 50% prediction line with a reasonable correlation coefficient was established between PPV and scaled distance.

The database FILM-SHOT-COUNTER assembles and offers results of my own „cinemetric“ measurements of films and television episodes. I achieved those measurements by counting film shots by hand-clicker, processing the number of shots in particular software, or making a shot-by-shot analysis. To calculate the average shot length (i. e. ASL, a concept created by Barry Salt), I measure the film’s length in seconds (24fps in the case of sound films) and then divide it by the number of counted shots.

In my database, it is possible to find more than 3500 measurings of more or less contemporary films and television episodes from many countries. Besides the fact that you can find hundreds of ASL measurings of movies from the last decades here, the database is unique for at least three other reasons. Firstly, it includes an almost total number of preserved films of Czech silent cinema and at least 33 % of Czech sound cinema production from each year till (so far) 1933. Secondly, it covers a large number of films from Eastern European countries. Thirdly, it consists of many entirely rare silent films from the 1910s all around the world. Since I am updating the database regularly, it will continue growing more prominent.

It is necessary to point out that very ASL values are not the final results of any research. Those values are meant to be used as tools for further analysis. For what kinds of research may ASL be used? In the case of a particular film, the very ASL value will help us get a rudimentary awareness of its editing pattern, but it will not tell much more. When analyzing a particular movie, it is, therefore, much more helpful to observe the ASL’s variations during its course (for example, the ASL of individual scenes, sequences, blocks, or acts).On the other hand, by the force of ASL values or shot counts, we can gain a lot of various and inspiring suggestions for stylistic research in the case of groups of films. An acquaintance of ASL values can facilitate the juxtaposition of various film or television works of a period, region, genre, company, or particular filmmaker. The mere fact that certain films of a particular director (or period, region, company, genre, etc.) have identical or similar ASL values may not be a priori remarkable. That is because an identical or similar ASL value can be caused by a significantly different configuration of longer or shorter shots. However, it is worthwhile to consider the similarities in the case of relatively high and low ASL values – assessed against the background of the relevant norms. Nevertheless, more remarkable and predictable is when we find out that certain films of a particular director (or period, region, company, genre, etc.) have significantly different ASL than the others. These different ASL values imply a notable variability of creative choices that filmmakers made. Since that, we can put forward many research questions. I believe that my database offers extensive and reliable background for such questions.

In 2020 I added two entirely new parameters to the database, offering slightly different quantitative perspectives and comparative options than the existing ones. The first new parameter is the average number of cuts per minute of the film (CPM), which may be easier for some users to imagine than the average shot length in seconds. The second, in my opinion, a much more important new parameter is the number of cuts per hour of the film (CPH), which allows the detection of long-term trends and massive comparability. I work with this parameter in two forms in my database: optimally (a) in the form of the exact number of cuts per the first hour of the measured film; and (b) in case I do not know this number, in the proportional number of cuts per hour of the film. The exact number of cuts per hour is noted in the database with precision per unit of shots and is based on my own measurement (at a projection speed of 24fps). The proportional number of cuts per hour has been rounded to „fifties“ and „hundreds“. I’ve made hundreds of control tests of such a calculation in the cases of movies with already known the exact number of cuts per hour, and it’s relatively accurate in terms of broader trends. For the time being, I have decided to state the number of cuts per hour only for sound films because we can speak with certainty about the standardization of the projection speed in their case.

With the restriction in use of clay in manufacturing of bricks, fly ash brick is best substitute for it. Growing awareness among the prospective and potential building & consistent efforts by Govt. fly ash brick is incorporate in the schedule of various construction agencies. With the change of demand of the society, fly ash bricks are gradually increasing day by day not only in the metropolitan cities but also in urban & rural sector. All construction works are dependent on bricks. This research paper presents a comparison of fly ash bricks and clay bricks. Data is collected through questionnaires and personal interviews targeting Consultants, Engineers, and Traders. SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) is adopted to evaluate the responses collected from the respondent by Independent Samples T-test.

Purpose-The purpose of this paper is to find a real-time parking location for a four-wheeler. Design/methodology/approach-Real-time parking availability using specific infrastructure requires a high cost of installation and maintenance cost, which is not affordable to all urban cities. The authors present statistical block matching algorithm (SBMA) for real-time parking management in small-town cities such as Bhavnagar using an in-built surveillance CCTV system, which is not installed for parking application. In particular, data from a camera situated in a mall was used to detect the parking status of some specific parking places using a region of interest (ROI). The method proposed computes the mean value of the pixels inside the ROI using blocks of different sizes (8 Â 10 and 20 Â 35), and the values were compared among different frames. When the difference between frames is more significant than a threshold, the process generates "no parking space for that place." Otherwise, the method yields "parking place available." Then, this information is used to print a bounding box on the parking places with the color green/red to show the availability of the parking place. Findings-The real-time feedback loop (car parking positions) helps the presented model and dynamically refines the parking strategy and parking position to the users. A whole-day experiment/validation is shown in this paper, where the evaluation of the method is performed using pattern recognition metrics for classification: precision, recall and F1 score. Originality/value-The authors found real-time parking availability for Himalaya Mall situated in Bhavnagar, Gujarat, for 18th June 2018 video using the SBMA method with accountable computational time for finding parking slots. The limitations of the presented method with future implementation are discussed at the end of this paper.

Abstract. In this paper we introduce the concept of statistical deformation mod-els (SDM) which allow the construction of average models of the anatomy and their variability. SDMs are built by performing a statistical analysis of the defor-mations required to map anatomical features in one subject into the corresponding features in another subject. The concept of SDMs is similar to active shape mod-els (ASM) which capture statistical information about shapes across a population but offers several new advantages over ASMs: Firstly, SDMs can be constructed directly from images such as MR or CT without the need for segmentation which is usually a prerequisite for the construction of active shape models. The authors establish the effect of urbanization on precipitation in the Pearl River Delta of China with data from an annual land use map (1988–96) derived from Landsat images and monthly climate data from 16 local meteorological stations. A statistical analysis of the relationship between climate and urban land use in concentric buffers around the stations indicates that there is a causal relationship from temporal and spatial patterns of urbanization to temporal and spatial patterns of precipitation during the dry season. Results suggest an urban precipitation deficit in which urbanization reduces local precipitation. This reduction may be caused by changes in surface hydrology that extend beyond the urban heat island effect and energy-related aerosol emissions.

The photochemical behavior of oxyfluorfen [2-chloro-1-(3-etoxy-4-nitrophenoxy)-4-(trifluoromethyl) benzene] on two Greek soils was investigated. Soils were sampled from Nea Malgara and Preveza regions, characterized by a different organic matter content. Soils were spiked with the diphenyl-ether herbicide and irradiation experiments were performed either in the laboratory with a solar simulator (xenon lamp) or outside, under natural sunlight irradiation; other soil samples were kept in the dark to control the retention reaction. Kinetic parameters of both retention and photochemical reactions were calculated using zero-, first- and second- (Langmuir-Hinshelwood) order equations, and best fit was checked through statistical analysis. The soil behaviors were qualitatively similar but quantitatively different, with the soil sampled from the Nea Malgara region much more sorbent as compared with Preveza soil. Malfunction of permanent vascular accesses remains a cause of frequent and costly morbidity in patients receiving chronic hemodialysis (CHD). Several recommendations for routine monitoring of these permanent vascular accesses for incipient failure have been proposed. In this study, multiple indicators of incipient vascular access dysfunction, including "venous" and "arterial" pressures at serial blood flows (200 ml/min, 300 ml/min, and 400 ml/min), percent urea recirculation, Doppler ultrasound, and access blood flow by ultrasound dilution technique were simultaneously evaluated in a total of 220 vascular accesses in 170 chronic hemodialysis patients in two separate study periods (6 months apart). The rate of thrombosis was determined within the subsequent 12 weeks of each study period to assess the short-term predictive power of access thrombosis. During the period of follow-up, there were 34 thrombotic events in 172 polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) grafts and only one thrombotic event in 48 arterio-venous fistulas (AVF). Therefore, the statistical analysis was limited to the PTFE grafts. When grafts with thromboses were compared to those without thrombosis by univariate analysis, access blood flow measured either by ultrasound dilution technique (875 +/- 426 ml/min with thrombosis vs. 1193 +/- 677 ml/min without thrombosis, P = 0.001) or by Doppler ultrasound (762 +/- 420 ml/min with thrombosis vs. 1171 +/- 657 ml/min without thrombosis, P = 0.001) were significantly different in the two groups. There was good correlation (r = 0.79, P = 0.0001) between the blood flows determined by both techniques. The grade of stenosis determined by ultrasound was also a statistically significant predictor (P = 0.02). "Venous" and "arterial" pressures were numerically similar and were not statistically different between the accesses that did and those that did not thrombose. When multivariate analysis was used, there was a significantly increased risk of thrombosis only with decreasing access blood flow determined by ultrasound dilution techniques after adjusting for other confounding variables. When the average blood flow of all grafts (1134 ml/min) is considered as the reference access blood flow (relative risk of 1.0), the relative risk of a PTFE thrombotic event within the subsequent 12 weeks was 1.23 at a blood flow 950 ml/min, 1.67 at a blood flow of 650 ml/min and to 2.39 at a blood flow of 300 ml/min. In summary, access blood flow measured by either Dilution or Doppler is a reliable indicator of subsequent short-term thrombosis risk. Other proposed methods of evaluating access dysfunction were not useful in our patients. If simple to use, cost-effective devices to measure dialysis access blood flow become readily available, the measurement of access blood flow will likely become the method of choice for screening of PTFE vascular access dysfunction in hemodialysis patients.
